Software for making quick prototypes:
Digital:
- GameMaker (free) for use on the PC or Mac
- Platinum Arts Sandbox (free): PC or Mac
- FPS Creator and FPS Creator X10 (Vista): PC
Non Digital:
- Skeleton Key Games offers tile set for making board games (or using for backgrounds in your digital game)
For Everyone:
- Bryce: A really easy to use 3D modeling program for making environment images
A few other local tips:
- Valley Thrift in Hamilton has plenty of old board games for you to use as a base for yours.
- Dollar stores have lots of low-cost resources for making your game, including foam core board, toys, etc.
